World War I Savings Stamps Celluloid Bank
WWI Antique “DuPont War Savings Stamps” Celluloid Pocket Dime Still Bank. Front side advertising, “Wear Challenge DuPont Cleanable Collars and Save Laundry Dollars”; Drop Your Weekly Laundry Quarters In Here – When bank is full, break open and you will have enough for a WAR SAVINGS STAMP”; Teach Your Child Thrift – Buy War Savings Stamps”. Signed, “The Whitehead & Hoag Co., Newark, N.J.” Pleasing colors of blue and red on cream background. What is so interesting about this bank it is only celluloid on the front side with back made of tin. Also, you had to break this bank open to retrieve your money, making this a very rare bank to have survived. Circa 1914. Excellent condition. Lighter marks from camera flash. 2 ½” diameter x ½” thick.
